Big Brands Go Green!
As consumers take a greater interest in green behavior, brands like IKEA and Coca-Cola are investing largely in sustainability practices.
Creating business value through corporate sustainability is a very smart idea. The rise in ethical consumerism is progressing and brands that are identifying themselves as green are reaping positive benefits. There has been an increase in ethic-based decisions in the mass market due to an increased understanding of how business practices work. Ethical consumerism is developing into a wider movement within marketing, resulting in companies striving to be ethical.
In china, brands are selling green. Coca-cola started its environmental campaign titled 'Live Positively', a sustainability program that promotes healthy living, the environment and climate. They are making positive changes in all areas of the company using their global recognition to propel the green revolution.
On a larger scale, IKEA UK has purchased a wind farm in Scotland and is planning to install 39,000 solar panels on the roofs of its stores, as it strives to get all of its power from renewable sources. IKEA UK says that the solar panels will reduce its CO2 consumption on average by 662 tons per year!
