Baby Boomers attracted to ethical employers

11 November 2009

Contrary to the popular myth on the issue, Baby Boomers place more emphasis on working for a socially and environmentally conscious employer than either Gen X or Gen Y, according to new research from Kelly Services.

A Kelly survey of more than 13,000 Australian employees found that 86% of respondents across all age groups reported that they were more likely to work for a company that they saw as being socially responsible, and 80% were more likely to work for an environmentally sound employer.

The survey also found that some 61% of Baby Boomers were prepared to take a pay cut in order to work with a socially conscious employer, compared with 57% of Gen Xs and 56% of Gen Ys.

Kelly Services managing director James Bowmer said the results indicated a pattern of increased awareness and concern about employer ethics as candidates got older.
